Taking Australian plumbers to Denmark - Master Plumbers
Posted on May 30, 2017
Why Master Plumbers is sending apprentices to Denmark on an International Internship for the second year running.
Last year, second year plumbing apprentice Bryce Healy took part in an international internship program in collaboration with Master Plumbers Association members Cooke & Dowsett.
This career-changing working holiday took Bryce to the Danish capital, Copenhagen, where he worked for Finn L Davidsen plumbers on a range of domestic projects.
This year, Master Plumbers have extended the internship to all third and fourth year Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) apprentices.
It's not just about working overseas. It's about experiencing a different culture and learning skills and a new way of doing things.
"After completion of a plumbing apprenticeship, and gaining a registration/licence they have a qualification for life that is generously renumerated, highly sought after and can be used anywhere in the world," said Master Plumbers President Scott Dowsett.
"The trade of plumbing requires multiple skill sets. Technologies, materials, equipment and appliances are forever evolving. It is important for all apprentices and plumbers to keep up with the changes: what better way to do so than first hand experience in a different country?"
"Europe is a leader in technology and innovation in plumbing," Mr Dowsett said. "It's an information exchange and a chance to make future contacts. If an intern can bring home even one new idea or skill set, it's been worth it. With so many top level apprentices coming from PAV, it's going to be tough to decide on the successful applicant."
To find out more, follow Master Plumbers on Facebook. The winner will be announced in late April. If you're looking for a highly skilled plumbing apprentice for your business, call the PAV Team on 03 9329 9622.
